Who is Your Favorite VC?

// Business, Entrepreneurship, India, Venture Capital, Venture Funding

By now, most of you would have come across quite a few investors from the VC community, here and there. You might have been caught up with them over coffee, or run a deal through them.

So here’s the question. If you had to do an evaluation and mention a venture capital firm that comes at the top of your mind, for their clarity in thought, attitude, business sense, and at the speed at which they went about doing things, who would it be?

I do not think many of us have a favorite VC, unless they have funded us already. My favorite VC is not a VC at all but a Seed/Angel Investor. These are the people that really take a risk and are the ones behind a venture.

VCs these days want to put their money behind a company that is already moving forward and needs an infusion of cash to get bigger.

For example, a prominant VC in Silicon Valley told me that he loved my concept and would fund my company if I had a track record and was able to do a proof of concept. If this is the case, I am sure I would not have a problem getting funding.

Bottom-line, my favorite VC is the Seed/Angel investor who is truly the VC and taking the most risk.

    Hiren,

I think the VCs you talk about are playing their role just fine. VCs dont invest in ideas, but invest in businesses and help to grow it. it’s the rare ones that take a chance and invest in ideas.

The fault is not with them.
